Here at the LOST Initiative, we have just a few rules we expect all players to abide by so that we can all enjoy the game.
1. Treat other players with respect. While we encourage all kinds of relationships to be formed between characters (including some strained and even hostile relationships), we do not want these possible hostilities to extend to out of character relationships between players. If you have an issue with someone, try to handle it in a mature fashion, and if necessary, talk to a staff member and we'll help to arbitrate any disagreements.
2. Keep it clean. We want to allow writers freedom to use the language they feel is appropriate to their character, but there are a couple of guidelines within that area we will be enforcing. The only word we will not allow to be used is the "F" word. If you wish to replace this word with something like frack or freaking, that will be acceptable. Cursing may be part of a character that is developed and we understand that, however we would ask that it is not used excessively. And finally, there will be no graphic sexual content allowed.
3. You do not have complete freedom to write action. What I mean by this is that you can write your own character's actions within this universe. You can write NPC's actions within this universe. You can even write for smaller things such as boar, polar bears, weather, etc. But there are major things you cannot write for. Check with The Island if you think what you want to write might infringe on one of these things. Most likely, I will just work with you in whatever you are writing. Additionally, you cannot write another playing character's actions without that player's explicit permission. If you write without asking, you run the risk of having your post deleted. Ask first!
And that's it! We don't have a ton of rules to bog you down with here, we just want everyone to have fun playing the game!
One last note, since we have people playing who are not LOST fans we wanted to issue this warning. If you go ahead and watch LOST or search it on the internet, some of the mysteries involved in this game will be given away. We are avid fans of LOST and would never discourage someone who is interested from checking it out. However, if you do so and learn information that hasn't been revealed in game we ask that you do not share it with other players and be sure to keep in mind the separation between what you as a player know and what your character(s) know.
